Kings Place – Voices Unwrapped Opening Weekend

January 2022 marks the launch of Voices Unwrapped, celebrating the power of the voice and the joy of singing together.

Sound Voice is an immersive video installation exploring stories of voice loss and identity, on 13-15 January. The singers include Roderick Williams, Lucy Crowe and Iestyn Davies.

On 13 January,Eric Whitacre leads VOCES8 in two performances of his 12-movement choral work The Sacred Veil, telling a story of love, loss and the search for solace.

On 14 January, Julie Fowlis together with Zoë Conway, Éamon Doorley and John McIntyre present ‘Allt’. Songs are inspired by modern and ancient Irish and Scottish Gaelic poems.

Song Surgeries, on 15 January, created by soprano Bibi Heal and pianist Stephen Barlow, are 30-minute bespoke concerts for ‘Hope and Healing,’ ‘Courage and Comfort,’ or ‘Rest and Renewal.’

***Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eric Whitacre/VOCES8 performance has been postponed until the 6 April, and the Julie Fowlis/Allt performance is rescheduled to the 1 April.
