Over the next three weeks, Kirill Gerstein will be heard in Belgium, the USA and Italy performing Thomas Adès’s Piano Concerto which was written especially for him. On 22 January he gives the work its Belgium première at the BOZAR in Brussels (live broadcast here), and on 3 February, its Italian première in Rome with Antonio Pappano and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (broadcast live on Friday 4 February here). In between, he returns to perform the work with its original commissioners the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer himself.
