Kings Place – London Unwrapped 2021
Kings Place’s annual flagship Unwrapped series continues its exploration of the sounds of the city with 2021’s London Unwrapped which returns in full force this September, kicking off with a line-up of composer/performers whose music reflects their heritage and London’s multi-cultural influences.
Seamlessly blending her Jamaican heritage with her London upbringing, cellist and singer-songwriter Ayanna Witter-Johnson has previously been a guest of both Cello Unwrapped and Venus Unwrapped. Ayanna’s music comes from ‘a healthy diet of classical piano and cello studies alongside absorbing pop culture, soul, jazz, reggae, hip-hop, and RnB’ and exemplifies London’s melting pot of cultures. Her compositions have recently been performed by the LSO/Rattle, and by Chineke! while the concert at Kings Place is an opportunity to hear her as a performer.
